Editorial Policy

E-Com Benchmark Lab's editorial policy governs how we select, test, score and publish content about e-commerce platforms. It exists to protect the independence of our rankings.

How We Select Platforms

A platform is added to our comparison set if it is widely recognized by merchant volume or review count, or if it offers something genuinely innovative that merchants are asking about. We do not accept payment to be included in a ranking.

How We Score

Every platform is scored 0–10 across 55 criteria grouped into 11 weighted categories, detailed on our Methodology page. Scores are set by our editorial analysts based on product documentation, public pricing, support interactions and, where possible, hands-on product exploration.

Editorial Independence

Advertising, affiliate relationships and commercial partnerships never determine a platform's score. Our analysts score products first; commercial teams have no input into scoring or ranking decisions.

Updates & Freshness

Platforms evolve constantly. We re-review scores when a platform ships a major feature, changes pricing significantly, or when our own methodology changes — as happened in September 2026 when we added the Enterprise & Operations category.
